2016 Honda HR-V LXNow that the 2016 Honda HR-V LX is available to our Albany drivers, we thought it would be a good time to see how it stacks up to a vehicle like the 2015 Nissan Juke S and its standard features. The Juke was one of the sportier crossovers on the market before the HR-V made its debut, but can it stand up to what the new Honda crossover has to offer?

The HR-V’s Standard Features Impress

Recent Honda models have been helping shape the auto industry, dragging other automakers forward by requiring them to install modern features on entry-level trims to stay competitive. Nissan has kept reasonable pace with Honda when it comes to features, but it still trails a bit behind the HR-V.

You can find the following features on each HR-V, including the entry-level LX trim:

  • Bluetooth HandsFreeLink (for phone and audio)
  • Honda 60/40 split-folding Magic Seat
  • Multi-angle rearview camera
  • USB audio interface
  • Remote entry

The 2015 Nissan Juke S standard features are somewhat less impressive. Drivers don’t have access to the Honda Magic Seat for an easily expandable cargo area, and it only has a single-view rearview camera.

One of the biggest advantages of Honda’s new compact crossover isn’t in its technology but in its size and cargo space. The Juke S is small, only allowing for 10.5 cubic feet of cargo space and 86.7 cubic feet of passenger space. The HR-V LX has 100.1 cubic feet of passenger room with a standard 24.3 cubic feet of cargo area.

Honda’s Fuel-Efficient Engines

The standard features package is just one advantage of the HR-V; it also features a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine:

  • The 2015 Nissan Juke S FWD is rated at 32 highway mpg.
  • The 2016 Honda HR-V 2WD LX with CVT earns an EPA-estimated 35 highway mpg.*

Despite the Nissan’s smaller size, the HR-V 2WD LX with CVT is clearly more fuel efficient.
