One of the most important factors in your search for a new SUV is the cost, but fair warning: don’t be deceived by the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder price. At first glance, its $29,630 price tag does come in just a bit under the 2016 Honda Pilot 2WD LX’s $29,995 (MSRP),* but the Pathfinder lags behind on so many features that Albany drivers expect on their SUVs. The Pilot also offers up superior power and more room for the whole family. Its small price increase goes a long, long way.
Let’s take a look at just what a driver misses out on when they choose the Pathfinder S over the Pilot LX.
Honda Gives Drivers More
The price difference between the Pathfinder and Pilot is almost negligible when shopping for a new vehicle, and yet the Pilot comes out ahead in some of the most important qualities of a family-friendly SUV:
- Power: The 2016 Pilot has a 280-hp 3.5L V6 with 262 lb-ft of torque powering it while the Pathfinder’s V6 engine is only rated at 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque.
- Space: The Pilot features more head- and hip-room for second- and third-row passengers, giving everyone space to get comfortable on a long drive. Honda’s SUV also has seating for up to eight passengers as standard, while the Pathfinder only seats seven.
- Features: Honda’s 2016 Pilot features a multi-angle rearview camera, push-button ignition, Bluetooth for phone and audio, and many more high-tech standard features. The Pathfinder, on the other hand, requires upgrades to at least its SV trim level for features that Honda gives drivers at no additional cost.
To put things in perspective, the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder SV price, which manages to more closely match the Pilot on features, is $32,990. And it still falls behind on engine power and seating.
