2020 Honda CR-V Efficiency
Car and Driver notes that: “It’s not hard to see why the 2020 Honda CR-V is one of the brand’s top-selling products”. Efficiency is a big reason for that; even while commanding up to 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque from a 1.5L turbocharged engine, the latest CR-V uses a sophisticated Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) to make:
- Up to an EPA-estimated 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway with FWD models*
- Up to an EPA-estimated 27 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway with AWD models*
2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid Efficiency
The upcoming Honda CR-V Hybrid will use the same Two-Motor Hybrid system currently utilized by the popular and acclaimed 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid. That system combines:
- 2.0L 16-Valve DOHC Atkinson Cycle Engine
- Two Electric Motors
- Hybrid Battery Pack
You’ll command up to 212 hp combined. Even better, Honda expect to achieve a 50% increase in EPA city fuel economy ratings compared against the standard 2020 CR-V.
The Honda CR-V and Honda CR-V Hybrid aren’t isolated instances of ultra-efficiency within the Honda lineup. In fact, Honda has been recognized by the U.S. EPA for achieving the highest fleet-average fuel economy of any automaker.
They’re currently aiming to halve their global CO2 emissions by 2050 and electrify two-thirds of their global automobile sales by 2030. In the U.S. alone, Honda’s electrified vehicle sales in 2019 are up 34 percent from a year ago, so it’s clear this new move is one that resonates with drivers across the country.
