The 2016 Kia Soul has a unique look to it that … well, it’s sure to turn heads, but can the 2016 Kia Soul features compare to some of its top competitors? When Albany drivers come to one of our Capital Region Honda Dealers looking for a practical yet fun new hatchback, we point them to the 2016 Honda Fit, so why don’t we see how the Soul stands up to it? Before we get too deep into the comparison of the features, we know many of our drivers are concerned about fuel economy, so let’s address that first:
- The 2016 Honda Fit LX CVT earns an EPA-estimated 41 highway and 33 city mpg,* making it one of the most fuel-efficient hatchbacks on the road.
- The 2016 Kia Soul, on the other hand, only manages 30 highway and 24 city mpg despite having the same power as the Fit (130 hp).
That’s a pretty big win in the Fit’s column, and it only gets better for it from here.
Honda Continues to Set the Standard on Features
One of the biggest advantages of the 2016 Honda Fit is just how versatile it is, and that’s due in part to the Honda-exclusive Magic Seat, which lets you fold down part or all of the rear seat to accommodate large cargo—or fold up the seat to set tall items on the rear passenger floor.
But maybe it’s not fair to compare to amenities the Kia can’t have. The 2016 Kia Soul base features are still missing quite a bit in comparison to the Fit, such as:
- Multi-angle rearview camera (the Soul has no standard camera)
- 5-inch color LCD screen (the Soul requires an upgrade for a 4.3-inch screen)
- Cruise control
Some of these are features that many drivers have come to expect on their new cars, and we’re a bit surprised to see that they aren’t on the Soul. We would imagine you are too.
