Many drivers in the Capital Region already know that the 2018 Honda Fit is one of the most versatile subcompact cars on the road, but most could still stand to learn a thing or two about the operation of its celebrated Magic Seats—standard on every trim level. Once you’ve learned how the configurable Magic Seats function, you’ll be able to use the Fit’s spacious interior to accomplish nearly any task. Whether you’re vacationing, completing a project, or helping a friend move into a new place, you’re sure to love what the Fit can do.
The Four Configurations
Under normal circumstances, your Honda Fit will be able to seat five passengers in perfect comfort, and you’ll have access to 16.6 cubic feet of cargo volume.
From this position, you’ll be able to shift your car into Utility Mode using one simple motion. Without even having to remove the rear headrests, you’ll be able to lie either one or both sections of your 60/40-split rear seating flat to the floor, giving you up to 52.7 cubic feet of cargo volume!
From Utility Mode, you’ll be able to enter Long Mode by removing your front passenger’s seat headrest and leaning that seat back nearly 180 degrees. In Long Mode, you’ll possess storage space that stretches from the front seats all the way to the tailgate!
Of course, that’s not all the Honda Fit’s Magic Seat can do! Starting with all seats in their normal, upright positions, you can enter Tall Mode by lifting one or both of your rear seats’ bases and locking them into place using their movable legs. In this configuration, you’ll possess up to 4 feet of vertical storage, accessible right from your rear passenger doors.
Drivers can also use their rear seats’ mobile bases to engage Refresh Mode. To adopt this configuration, lift up one or both of your rear seats’ bases and, without locking it into place, lower one or both of your front seats—with headrests removed—all the way back. Once you’ve lowered and locked your rear seats’ bases once more, you’ll be able to kick back, put your legs up, and relax!
